Ristorante Ginos: Restaurant Review 2023
THINKING OF STOPPING BY RESTAURANT GINOS (AS CANCELAS) AND WANT AN HONEST REVIEW?
Look no further! I visited Ristorante Ginos on a recent trip to Santiago de Compostela and had an evening meal on a weeknight.
With plenty of authentic Italian meals on the menu, it’s hard to go wrong with picking a restaurant like Ristorante Ginos on a trip.
Read on to get all of my thoughts on Ristorante Ginos, Santiago de Compostela!
Where is Ristorante Ginos?
Ginos is located in a huge shopping mall, just a short walk from the Santiago de Compostela centre.
As Cancelas Shopping Centre is a vibrant hub of retail and entertainment nestled on the outskirts of the city. The shopping mall has a huge selection of shops, boutiques and restaurants.
As Cancelas acts as a space for downtime, dining and entertainment for locals and tourists alike. On our 5-day trip, we visited the shopping mall 4 times due to its convenience. The huge Carrefour on the ground floor had everything we needed at our self-catering accommodation and the huge range of restaurants allowed us to have many different types of food without huge queues like in the city centre.
It’s also good to know that Galicia’s clothing market has significantly lower margins than the rest of Spain and indeed Europe. You’ll find clothing in the mall from top brands like Pull and Bear or Zara for a fraction of the price you would anywhere else.
If you’re in need of a new wardrobe or just have some extra room in your backpack then I highly recommend shopping in As Cancelas.
Ristorante Ginos is located along with many others on the top floor of the mall and looks lovely and welcoming from the outside.
The menu is clearly displayed at the front of the restaurant which I really love as it allows you to make sure that you will definitely find something to your taste without having the embarrassment of sitting down and then needing to leave.
What is Ristorante Ginos like?
Ristorante Ginos is an Italian gem in Santiago. It’s the perfect place to visit for those who don’t fancy Spanish cuisine or fast food and serves some truly delicious dishes.
All guests at Ristorante Ginos are welcomed by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with some great mood lighting.
The furniture in the restaurant is very modern but with a rustic feel and the tables aren’t sat on top of each other giving you a great amount of privacy, no matter where you are sat.
The open kitchen allows guests to watch the chefs hard at work preparing meals and adds to the welcoming vibe. It’s like you’ve been invited to watch talented performers put on a show.
Whether seeking a casual meal with friends or a special dining experience with loved ones, Ristorante Ginos delivers a delightful blend of flavours, atmosphere and hospitality that makes it a standout destination within the As Cancelas Shopping Centre.
Ristorante Ginos Menu
The menu at Ristorante Ginos is a celebration of Italian culinary traditions, featuring a wide array of dishes that showcase the rich diversity of Italian cuisine.
The restaurant serves all of the typical Italian favourites that fussy eaters and adventurous ones can enjoy. From freshly made pizza to their selection of delicious pasta, there will be something for everyone at Ginos.
The artisanal pizzas, with authentic, thin and crispy crusts are the showstopper at Ginos and one of the most popular dishes on the menu.
The menu is viewed on your phone by scanning a QR code, but paper copies are available too.
All of the ingredients are carefully sourced to ensure the highest quality, and the menu caters to a variety of dietary preferences, making it a perfect choice for both locals and tourists.
As someone with allergies, I found it very easy to navigate the menu, with a feature to exclude dishes from your view with certain allergens.
We left far too full for dessert, but the dessert menu looked absolutely delicious. The Cioccolatissimo in particular was very tempting.
For mains, I went for a Verdure e Formaggio di Capra Pizza. It had a delicious, doughy tomato base, aubergine, courgette, tomatoes, pesto, mozzarella and goat’s cheese. I’d highly recommend it to anyone.
Price-wise Ginos is very affordable. We had an entire meal for two, for €32.60. For a sit-down meal in such a lovely establishment, I thought this price was very reasonable.
Opening Times
As with the rest of Spain, Ginos closes in the late afternoon to allow staff to rest. That means that dinner is typically served quite late.
Just bear this in mind if you usually have dinner in the early evening as many restaurants will be shut.
Because of the late evening opening hours, most Spaniards eat late at night. Many wait until the shops have closed before grabbing a bite to eat. If you arrive at As Cancelas before the restaurant opens then don’t worry, there are plenty of shops to browse!
Ginos had one of the earliest evening opening hours in the shopping centre, so just keep that in mind as many don’t open until 8 pm – apart from the fast food joints which don’t close.
Ginos opening hours are listed as 1-5 pm every day and 7 – late on weekdays. Ginos is open on Saturday from 12.30 pm-12.30 am and on Sunday from 12.30 pm – 12 am.
We arrived at Ginos at around 7.30 pm and we were the only couple there until we were almost finished with our meal. It felt slightly awkward as the staff were almost hovering over us, but they were;t rude or rushing in any way which I liked.
Ristorante Ginos: Final Review
Overall, I’d give Ginos a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star review! The attentive staff and welcoming atmosphere made for a lovely, romantic meal and you could tell that it would be a fantastic place for families too.
The range of dishes on the menu was fabulous and the view into the kitchen allows guests to see that their chosen meal is freshly made and uses only the finest ingredients.
I’d highly recommend the Verdure e Formaggio di Capra Pizza – a delicious way to get in your vegetables for the day. The size of the pizzas is well worth the €14.95.
Another thing that I love about Ginos is that it is signed up to both Uber Eats and Just Eat, meaning if you don’t want to make the trip to As Cancelas and want to eat from the comfort of your home then that’s an option too!
If you’re ever in Santiago de Compostela and are passing Ginos, make sure to stop by for a delicious meal!
